Rejects, Unite!

As someone who has had writing rejected for 20+ years, I've kept notes on the type of support I had that really helped me work through the rejection process or support I wish I had.

But everyone is different, so I wanted to ask what type of support you wish you had more of as you work to publish your favorite stories.

Ashly Stewart

Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Ashly Stewart is a poet, essayist, writer, speaker, and recovering overthinker whose work has been published in national and local magazines and poetry collections.

She's also had countless short stories, magazine pitches, and scripts rejected.

Mostly, it  has made her stronger, sharpened her voice, and taught her that her body does, indeed, have a limit for post-rejection chicken wings.

When she's not working through rejection, she's stomping around her beloved city, Indianapolis, with her boys, Kevin, Calvin, Rowan, and Guilford, who giver her nothing but unconditional acceptance. It's a nice change.

Katie Bartley

Lead Designer

Katie Bartley is a brand designer, illustrator, and visual artist from Dallas, Texas. Moodboarding, custom typography, and animation are her bread and butter.

She has worked on illustrations, characters, and background art for TV shows, trailers, and video games, and has designed brand identities across a range of industries - from flower shops to manufacturing shops.

As a collector and creative at heart, she can often be found thrifting, playing the hammered dulcimer, or finding inspo for her next project. She currently lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with her cat Zelda, and is very excited for her first Midwest fall.
